The first team squad received a visit on Monday, January 23, from the new president of the FC Barcelona Players Association, Juan Manuel Asensi. Accompanied by the former president, Ramon Alfonseda, Asensi thanked the players and coaches for their support in the action of the Association and the Players Foundation for helping ex-Barça players with difficulties. A contribution that has materialized since 2011 with the voluntary contribution of 0.5% of the salary made by professional football players and staff.
The coach, and member of the Association, Xavi Hernández, has given relevance to the contribution that the active players make to the entity: "It is important that the first team is there for that." Asensi has also asked the players to think that "tomorrow, if you are no longer at the Club or in Catalonia, also think that the Association will always be at your service, for what you need". Asensi and Alfonseda have given the players a book on the history of the Association.
On the other hand, the president of the Association has also mentioned that he was Xavi's first coach when the man now in charge of the first team arrived at FC Barcelona's grassroots football.
