Foundation's History
The "Private Barça Veterans Foundation", today called FC Barcelona Players Foundation, was born in 1994 with Association's president at the time Ladislao Kubala. It is a charity, cultural and sports foundation. From the beginning, the main goal is to help those former players in need and their widows and close family if need be. The help can be economic (temporary or for life), job search, life assistance or nursing assistance. The first Foundation's president was Josep Lluís Rovira.
Ladislao Kubala wrote a letter to the Club's President at the time, Josep Lluís Núñez, to suggest him the creation of the Foundation.
On april the 24th, 1995 the Foundation was officialy born in the presence of notary Antonio-Carmelo Agustín Torres and of Ramon Alfonseda, Gustavo Biosca, Joan Gaspart, Sígfrid Gràcia, Ricardo Llebaria, Pere Llorens, Joaquim Rifé, Joan Rovira, Josep Lluís Rovira and Martí Vergés representing the Assotiacion.
On may the 4th, 1995 took place the presentation of the "FOUNDATION OF FORMER FC BARCELONA PLAYERS" in the famous Pedrera building in Passeig de Gràcia. The President of the Catalonia's Generalitat, Jordi Pujol, was the head of the ceremony.
From the beggining, the Foundation has been handing in flyers to FC Barcelona Suporters Clubs and other insitutions to raise money for the cause.
