The pioneers of Barça Women join the campaign to present the Blaugrana away kit

FC Barcelona has just presented its away kit for next season, of which the purple colour is a tribute to the empowerment of women around the world, and specifically to the women who 50 years ago began to play football for FC Barcelona. The centrepiece of the campaign is an evocative video featuring first-team players and a representation of the pioneering female footballers at the Club: Pilar Gazulla, Lolita Ortiz and Consuelo Perez, who played their first match on 25th December 1970.

These three members of the FC Barcelona Players Association appear in the video, shot at the Johan Cruyff stadium at the beginning of June, with some of the most outstanding players of the triple champion team of the 2020-21 season, Aitana Bonmatí, Caroline Graham Hansen, Jennifer Hermoso, Asisat Oshoala, Alexia Putellas and Marta Torrejón. Throughout the video, parallels are drawn between the actions of current players and those carried out by the pioneers. They finish by all reciting a single phrase between them "Today, we lift up the first Champions League in Spain because 50 years ago we had the courage to speak out, and to play a sport that supposedly was not for us."
