The Consular Corps of Barcelona plays a match with the Barça Players’ Association

The consuls had the opportunity to get to know the Barça Players’ Association in person

The Consular Corps of Barcelona played a match this Tuesday with the Barça Players’ Association (BPA). It was a friendly meet-up organised with the aim of giving diplomatic representatives based in Barcelona the chance to get to know the BPA and its mission. Close to 40 representatives from countries all over the world attended the event with the Association, which consisted of a match and a small reception which was held at the BPA headquarters.

The match ended up with an 8-3 win for the blue and clarets, with goals for Marco A. Escobar (3), Rebollo (5) and Chavarría. The consular team was strengthened by two ex blue and claret players, and one of them, Rexach II, scored twice. 

In the event after the match, the President of the Association, Ramon Alfonseda, briefly explained the Association’s mission to the consuls; in particular the financial, educational, and career support given to Barça ex-players. On behalf of all those in attendance, the Secretary of the Consular Corps, Josep Maria Calmet, thanked the Association for inviting them. In this Tuesday’s event, representatives of the following country’s consulates were present: Albania, Guinea-Bissau, Finland, Austria, Benin, Brazil, United States, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Mexico, Moldavia, Pakistan, Portugal, Switzerland, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela, Burkina Faso, Canada, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Slovakia, Japan, Mali, Monaco, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, Seychelles and Sierra Leone.

The players who represented the Association were Salva Miracle, Andreu Ferrés, Pepito Ramos, Jordi Rebollo, Joan Blanquera, Sergio Chavarría, Miquel Corominas, Marcos Zamora, Jordi Torcal, Dani Martínez, Juan Antonio Cuadrado, Carles Rexach II, Felix Barrado, Marco A. Escobar, Carles Boneu, Josep Maldonado, Sito Rengel and Florenci Toro.
