On Friday evening the Barça Players’ Association (BPA) team played a match with the PAS Giannina CF Veterans in Ioannina (Greece) to round off the #FCBPlayers #WithRefugees action in solidarity with refugees. The day, which was organised in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and with the support of PAS Giannina CF, was held within the framework of the actions driven by the FC Barcelona Foundation and the Club, in order to help refugees arriving in Europe.
The friendly, played at the Zosimades Stadium, which ended up with a 4-1 win for the blue and clarets, rounded off a day in which FC Barcelona ex-players have shown that they want to stand side by side with refugees and asylum seekers in Greece, raise funds for their aid and protection, and recognise the effort made by the Greek people in providing shelter for them. This morning, the blue and claret touring group visited the refugee camp in Katsikas, one of 8 camps in the Ioannina region; there are currently 50,000 refugees living in Greece. In the morning there was also the chance for 220 boys and girls from the camps to take part in a coaching clinic designed and run by the Club’s ex-players themselves.
The BPA team was made up of Meho Kodro, Fréderic Déhu, Mario Rosas, Javier Guzmán, Haruna Babangida, Sergio García, Javi Delgado, Xevi Molist, Sergi Pérez, Joan Blanquera, Landi, Andreu Ferrés and Jonathan Ortuño. The Barça Players’ Association would like to thank Vueling, Arenalia, Josma Sport Gol and Roger’s for their collaboration in this trip for charity.
