The Barça Players Association and FC Barcelona have renewed their relationship with the signing of a new collaboration agreement this Tuesday at the Club offices. The FCB President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, and his counterpart at the Association, Ramon Alfonseda, signed the agreement, which strengthens the commitment to collaboration between the two organisations on various aspects and consolidates the continuity of the projects of a social nature run by the BPA, thanks to the economic contributions made by the players, coaches and managers from the Club’s professional teams.
The new agreement was also signed by the FC Barcelona Vice President, Jordi Cardoner, the Director in charge of relations with the BPA, Pau Vilanova, the Club CEO, Òscar Grau, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Nacho Mestre, the Barça Players Association Vice Presidents Josep Moratalla and Tente Sánchez, and the Director, Ferran Olivella.
The agreement signed this Tuesday maintains the annual contribution of 0.5% of the salaries of players, coaches and managers from the Club’s professional teams (Men’s and Women’s First Teams, Barça B and u18s A) for contracts signed after the 1st of July, 2010. A donation which for Josep Maria Bartomeu “is a source of satisfaction for Barça members as it allows the Association to take the Club around the world and spread the FC Barcelona values even further”. Ramon Alfonseda said that he was proud “of this board because it has contributed a set of improvement measures for the group of ex-players, and this allows us to join together in a positive way for the Association and also therefore for the Club”.
The Barça Players Association and the Barça Veterans Foundation will allocate the aid funds to the FC Barcelona ex-players who most need help, to cover the social activities of the two organisations, and the events representing FC Barcelona and the FC Barcelona Foundation.
The agreement regulates the institutional treatment that the Club gives to the Association in terms of representation, the initiatives to spread the word about the work of the group of the Club’s ex-players, and the lending of facilities and the BPA’s hospitality rights. The agreement also establishes the general lines of representation of the BPA, which was founded in 1959, at Club events, especially those organised by supporters’ clubs, and at football matches organised by the Club or the Foundation.
