BPA members approve 2016’s management and the organisation’s new projects in the General Assembly
The integration of the women’s group and the reinforcement of the relationship with the Club are set out as main objectives for 2017 in the BPA
The Barça Players Association (BPA) held their General Assembly this Monday. The organisation’s members approved the report on the management and economic closure of 2016 and gave the green light to 2017’s project and budget. The Assembly brought together some sixty BPA members in the Foundation Hall at the Camp Nou.
International Presence and Direct Services to Ex-Players
The management report presented by the Board underlined 2016’s main activities which have given the BPA an international impact, such as #WithRefugees, an act of solidarity which was held in Greece with UNHCR, and the matches played in Saudi Arabia and Mexico with Barça legends. Figures which reflect the BPA’s activities were also highlighted, such as the 22 people who have found work via the Association Job Centre, or the 580 hours of education aimed at professional development for the Club’s ex-players.
Women members, the Club and Aid
As announced by the president, Ramon Alfonseda, one of the main challenges for the BPA in 2017 is the integration of women players, after the arrival of more than 50 new members at the beginning of the year. From the social area constant work is being carried out to make these members feel part of the BPA, and they can take advantage of all the services. Activities, education, job centre and sporting action are the four areas where the women members are already transforming the BPA’s day to day.
In 2017 the BPA has also set out as an aim the consolidation of collaborations which began in 2016 with different areas of the Club, such as the Foundation, FCB Escola, Masia 360 and Barça Legends. Without forgetting that the direct aid given to ex-players, managed by Barça Veterans Foundation, are being adapted to the new reality of the people who receive them: increasingly younger ex-players who need new professional opportunities.
